In memory of the vineyard’s medieval history, from the 2009 vintage onwards, the second wine of the Château is called “Gassies”.
The name pays tribute to this great terroir whose origins date back to the 14th century when the noble house of Gassies was part of the Margaux seigneury.
An ambassador of the former and bearer of its values, Gassies is the true vision of tomorrow’s viticulture. It arises mainly from the estate’s young vine population intended to produce the first wine in the years to come. More vigorous and spirited than the older ones, these young vines give birth to a fruitiness with pure and precise aromas. Its blending may vary according to the latest planting and vintage effect. With his excellent know how, the cellar master will detect in the grape selections the tannic structure that will sublimate this youthful fruit.
Vinified with the same care as the illustrious great wine, Gassies expresses the full flavour of a delicate and fruity gourmandise. In essence, a true Margaux with velvety tannins as a signature of its noble origins.
